Borrowers warned of sting in the tail of longer-term home loans.
Australasian Business Intelligence, February, 2006
Byline: Marc Moncrief
Feb 19, 2006 (The Age - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Longer-term home loans are becoming more common in Europe and the US. Research house,
Cannex, argues that they could be used in Australia to make housing more affordable for low-income earners. InfoChoice, however, warns that although an extended loan may reduce monthly payments, borrowers will end up paying much more interest. GM Dennis Orrock believes they could also create another housing boom by artificially inflating house prices.
