ALRC to tackle privacy patchwork.

Feb 14, 2006 (Lawyers Weekly - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Karen Curtis asked the Australian Government to conduct a review of the "Privacy Act" during the course of 2005. The Government has now agreed to the request by the Australian Privacy Commissioner and has advised that the Australian Law Reform Commission will conduct a two-year review of the Act, as well as looking at the various state privacy laws. A review of the Act was

also requested by the Senate Legal & Constitutional Affairs Committee. Curtis says the various inconsistencies between the various state privacy laws are her biggest concern.
