Lion likely bidder for NZ distiller.
Australasian Business Intelligence, February, 2006
Feb 07, 2006 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian-listed wine and beer group, Lion Nathan, will consider the acquisition of a New Zealand distiller. Paul Ryan, of Goldman Sachs JBWere, says Independent Distillers is likely to be sold, as its founder was killed in a helicopter crash in November 2005. The company would fit Lion Nathan's strategy as it plans to increase its share of the ready- to-drink market. Lion Nathan already has trans-Tasman assets, which makes it the most
likely contender if Independent is offered for sale.
