Feb 07, 2006 (New Scientist - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The US Government has proposed a course of action which may anger many anti-nuclear
groups It wants to overturn a ban on the domestic reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel. The US also wants to reprocess spent fuel from other countries, saying that the US is the safest place to do this. The US Department of Energy wants to use a new technology called UREX to use the spent fuel
to produce products which can be used to fuel nuclear reactors. Critics argue that this proposal sends the wrong message to countries such as Iran and North Korea, which the US is
