Mar 31, 2006 (Weekly Tax Bulletin - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Continued budget surpluses give the Australian Government the opportunity to
reform fringe benefits tax (FBT). This is according to a report prepared jointly by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia (ICAA) and Professor Neil Warren, of the University of New South Wales, and released in March 2006. The report makes three main recommendations, including that
taxation of fringe benefits become the responsibility of the employee rather than the employer, and that all benefits be valued at cost.
