Big upside for oil and thermal coal.

Mar 15, 2006 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- As a net exporter of energy, Australia is set to benefit from an upsurge in energy markets.The rewards will flow to companies such as BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto and Woodside Petroleum. The Australian dollar will also benefit. Crude oil is trading at $US63 a barrel in mid-March 2006 and thermal coal is trading at more than $US50 a tonne. According to Macquarie Bank, Rio Tinto and Xstrata have offered Japanese power companies
a rollover in contract prices for 2006-07. Analysts had been expecting a fall in contract prices but have revised their
forecasts upwards.
