NFF bid to end bargaining impasse.

Mar 15, 2006 (The Weekly Times - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Reforms to the merger provisions of the Trade Practices Act were stalled by the National Party's Senator Barnaby Joyce. The National
Farmers' Federation (NFF) will ask Joyce to revise his position. The proposed reforms to the Act would permit farmers to inform the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission
(ACCC) of their desire to negotiate collectively with food processors. Authorisation would be automatic if no
objection was made by the ACCC within 28 days. Joyce is concerned about the dilution of the "lessening of competition" test and the transfer of merger decisions...
