Mar 08, 2006 (Weekly Tax Bulletin - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has announced a higher level of co-operation with the Australian Securities & Investment Commission (ASIC). Commissioner of Taxation Michael D'Ascenzo told participants in ASIC's Summer School on 14 February 2006 that the ATO has the arrangements with ASIC which allow it to use ASIC data to verify in real- time the existence of a company registering
for an Australian Business Number (ABN), and update company names in the ABN & Client Register.
