Mar 06, 2006 (The Age - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Mercer Human Resource Consulting has released a report entitled "The Emerging Global Pandemic: Human Resource Implication". The report claims that companies need to plan for the widespread outbreak of diseases such as
avian influenza, as there will only be a 20 to 30-day window of opportunity in which to act once a pandemic emerges. It is believed that a pandemic would impact the most on
industries such as retail, hospitality, travel and tourism. Mercer has advised companies to examine their provisions for
