Aldi driving private label growth.

Apr 30, 2006 (Inside Retailing - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Private labels accounted for 18 per cent of Australia's total packaged grocery items in terms of value in the fourth quarter of 2005. An ACNielsen survey of private label products shows that Aldi recorded the biggest rise in their sales. Aaron Cross, director of retail client services at ACNielsen, says consumers are used to buying private labels in staple food categories. They are also showing increasing acceptance of private labels in personal care products.
