Group to tackle science enrolments.
Australasian Business Intelligence, April, 2006
Byline: Brendan O'Keefe
Apr 25, 2006 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Macquarie University commissioned a study to identify the factors behind falling enrolments in science, engineering and technology courses. The research found that students were avoiding these areas due to a perception that the fields were too difficult, or in favour of courses that yield more lucrative careers, such as finance. In addition, it was found that science graduates are relatively poor communicators and that there is a general lack of knowledge among undergraduates regarding potential career options. A working group will now be formed to address the issues.
