Fat cat pay board hides behind veil of secrecy.

Apr 10, 2006 (The West Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Western Australia's Salaries & Allowances Tribunal has refused to answer questions on its decision to grant pay rises of up to 24 for senior bureaucrats. The tribunal's executive officer, Michael Hollier, also rejected a request by "The West Australian" for a copy of the $A185,000 Mercer Human Resource Consulting report that formed the basis of the tribunal's decision. Hollier said it is not standard practice for any information provided to the tribunal to be made public. The tribunal awarded pay increases of more than $A66,000 to some of the state's most senior public servants.
