May 21, 2006 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Virgin Blue Holdings is cautiously trying to increase revenue in a climate of financial strain and uncertain ownership. The Australian airline has budgeted $US15m for Aires, a reservation system just released by Cendant. Aires will allow Virgin to link its booking system to those of other carriers and travel agents, making it easier for Virgin to sell connecting tickets to foreign visitors. Virgin will also spend about $A5m on a new yield management system, to help minimise empty seats on its aircraft.
