May 31, 2006 (B&T Weekly - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The internet has changed people's information consumption patterns. Newspapers are experiencing falls in the number of readers. They also find it difficult to develop a sustainable model of generating revenue from online sites. Jeffrey Cole, director of the Centre for the Digital Future and research professor at the University of Southern California, has carried out a global survey on the effect the internet has on people's behavioural patterns. Cole said people spend less time in front of the TV. In Spain, 41 per cent of survey respondents watched less TV after they started using the internet, while only one per cent watched more.
