Australasian Business Intelligence, May, 2006

Byline: James Riley

May 29, 2006 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian Attorney-General Philip Ruddock has expanded the role of the AusCERT (Australian Computer Emergency Response Team) IT security provider. It will now cover the whole of the Federal Government, under a new agreement that replaces individual contracts with some agencies. It will also receive more funding, but will not be involved in policy-making. The latter area will be looked after by Ruddock's GovCERT task force, established in late 2005. AusCERT at present has 20 staff and is based in Brisbane.
