May 24, 2006 (The Sydney Morning Herald - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Global search engine, Google, has begun to place video advertisements on websites. From late May 2006, video advertisements are being placed on the websites on which it sells advertising. There has been strong interest from advertisers for the limited amount of space. America Online (AOL) is also entering the field, with the acquisition of Lightningcast, a company that sells video advertisements on about 150 sites. Lightningcast and other similar companies insert commercials into video programming, while Google's advertisements will be on web pages. Originally published in "The New York Times".
