Global retailers increase IT spending.

May 19, 2006 (Inside Retailing - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The global retail industry has increased its spending on information technology (IT). Frost & Sullivan World Retail Application Software Analysis by Segment shows that the world retail supply chain application software market earned $US2,852 million in 2005. This trend is expected to continue, to reach $US4,590 million in 2010. In 2006, retailers are expected to increase their IT spending by 15 per cent. Half of this increase is likely to be allocated to application software, particularly to programs facilitating multi-channel customer relationships, point-of-sale systems, strategic merchandising and supply chain management.
