China overtakes US, EU in sales of ICT goods.

May 17, 2006 (Asia Today International - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The US was the world leader in the export of information technology (ICT) products in 2003, but China surpassed in 2004. According to figures released by the OECD in late 2005, the US exported $US137 billion of ICT goods, compared with China's $US123 billion. However, in 2004, Chinese exports of ICT goods had jumped to $US180 billion, compared with a total of $US149 billion for the US. The OECD claimed that China was particularly prominent in the export of laptops, digital camera and mobile telephones.
