Adler loses appeal over sentence.

May 18, 2006 (The Sydney Morning Herald - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The New South Wales Court of Criminal Appeal has rejected an application by Rodney Adler against the severity of his jail sentence. The Sydney businessman was jailed for a maximum of four and a half years in April 2005 for his role in the collapse of HIH Insurance. He was ordered to serve a maximum of two and a half years. Meanwhile, two former non-executive directors of HIH, Justin Herbert Gardener and Alexander Walter Gorrie, have been disqualified by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority.
