May 17, 2006 (Human Resources - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Computer Society's president, Philip Argy, believes technology affects staff productivity and retention. Argy contends that an increasing skills shortage is an added incentive to flexible work arrangements at forward-thinking businesses. Wireless innovations mean that many Generation Y workers demand so-called "uncollared" workplaces. Argy recognises that key performance indicators (KPIs) are motivational tools for Gen Y workers, but a corporate culture of long office hours tend to be rejected.
