May 10, 2006 (The Age - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Virgin Blue CEO, Brett Godfrey, would like to fly directly to the US from Melbourne daily if aircraft and landing rights are secured. Although soaring fuel prices have affected Virgin Blue's profitability, Godfrey unveiled a 6.1 per cent rise in revenue to $A936 million, which aided Virgin in achieving a mild 8.5 per cent fall in net profit to $A68.2 million between 1 October 2005 and 31 March 2006. Meanwhile, Virgin Blue shares, which closed $A0.06 lower on 10 May 2006 at $A1.69, have significantly outperformed Qantas shares in 2006.
