Trouble brewing?

Australasian Business Intelligence, May, 2006

May 08, 2006 (BRW - ABIX via COMTEX) -- In the last four years, US corporate profits have increased by over 140 per cent. The weekly charts of the Nasdaq, Dow Jones and S&P 500, however, seem to imply that the markets are nearing a correction. Other causes for concern are that 10-year treasury bond rates appear to have established a floor at the five per cent mark, and further interest rate increases are almost certain. In addition, growing currency, financial and credit risks are placing the greenback under scrutiny. Some markets outside the US, such as India and Japan, seem vulnerable to any US-led global downturn.
