Private credit up 1.2 per cent.
Australasian Business Intelligence, May, 2006
May 01, 2006 (The Australian Financial Markets Newsletter - INSTO - ABIX via COMTEX) -- There was a 1.2 per cent increase in total credit provided to the private sector by financial intermediaries in March 2006. The figure follows a 1.4 per cent increase in February 2006, and a 14.3 per cent rise for the year to March 2006. Jarrod Kerr, an economist at JP Morgan, thinks the acceleration in annual credit growth is another indicator that Australia's interest rates are likely to be raised in June 2006. Housing credit rose by 13 per cent over the year, seasonally adjusted.
