May 01, 2006 (The Age - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Circardian Technologies' MD, Leon Serry, has high hopes for anti-cancer treatments in the new field of anti-angiogenesis. The Melbourne-based biotechnology incubator has joined with the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research and the Helsinki University in creating Vegenics, which is to list on the Australian sharemarket by 30 April 2007, and will design inhibiting drugs for vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGFs). The cancer research is considered complementary to the VEGF-A research that led to "Avastin", which earned Genentech $US1.1 billion ($A1.4 billion) in 2005. On 1 May 2006 Circadian shares rose $A0.07 to $A1.10.
