Killer study: why men should be dying to do the housework.

Australasian Business Intelligence, June, 2006

Byline: Harriet Alexander

Jun 14, 2006 (The Sydney Morning Herald - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Research undertaken at Australia's Victoria University has examined how men and women spend their leisure time. The study found that male respondents tended to occupy much of their free time on passive activities such as watching TV, reading or playing computer games. In contrast, female respondents tended to spend more time doing housework. The research team was led by Dr Leonie Bloomfield, who says men have a higher mortality risk as a result of a passive lifestyle. She adds that doing unpaid work such as housework or child care may help to extend the lives of men.
