Hamill deflects industry's highest honour.

Jun 07, 2006 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Advertising Federation of Australia (AFA) held an awards ceremony on 7 June 2006. Celebrating the 50-year history of TV advertising, the highest accolade went to George Patterson Y&R chairman emeritus, Alex Hamill, who was in London at the time of the ceremony. Commenting on his AFA Medallion, Hamill considers the award a testament to the role that the "Patts" agency has played in Australian advertising. His own contribution to the advertising industry has been attributed to networking, an understanding of competitors and access to business leaders. However, Hamill is a reluctant winner, suggesting with no hesitation that someone like John Singleton is a more worthy recipient....
