Hospitals not ready for an EHR.
Australasian Business Intelligence, July, 2006
Jul 27, 2006 (Hospital & Healthcare - ABIX via COMTEX) -- IDC completed a survey on the readiness of Australian hospitals for electronic health records (EHR). IDC has issued a survey report entitled "EHR: A move toward dynamic IT in healthcare? An Australian perspective". The research shows that hospitals are not prepared for EHR, as chief information officers are still encountering governance and risk management problems. The authors note that lack of inter-operability between clinical IT systems and lack of standards make it hard to share electronic data. Over 75 per cent of respondents thought it would take over five years to introduce EHR at their hospital.
