GE return gives reassurance that e-filing will be successful.

Australasian Business Intelligence, July, 2006

Jul 27, 2006 (International Tax Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- GE has filed its tax return without any problems. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) reported that the return, 237 megabytes in size, was sent to the IRS in mid-May 2006. Elvin Hedgpeth, deputy director (international) for large and mid-size business division at the IRS, said the successful completion of the country's largest return shows that the service is well prepared for receiving tax return electronically. All businesses with assets of more than $US50 million and with at least 250 returns per year are required to file the 2005 tax return electronically before 15 September 2006.
