[1305] Superannuation guarantee: Commissioner's guidelines on late contributions.
Australasian Business Intelligence, July, 2006
Jul 25, 2006 (Weekly Tax Bulletin - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has released Practice Statement Law Administration PS LA 2006/5. The ATO explains in the document how tax officers are required to treat superannuation contributions made by an employer for an employee after the relevant quarterly cut-off dates in the Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992. An employer who makes a contribution for an employee after the cut-off date for a quarter but before the end of the 28th day of the second month following the end of the quarter, can elect to have the contribution offset against the employer's superannuation guarantee contribution for the quarter.
