Tata goes in hard on aviation.

Jul 24, 2006 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian carrier Qantas Airways will choose an IT services supplier in October 2006. The application services account is said to be worth some $US80m ($A106.5m), and strong competition for it has surfaced between Indian groups Satyam and Tata Consultancy Services. The latter is trying to gain an edge by establishing a dedicated aviation sector services unit in Australia, to consist of about 30 staff. However, Satyam can build on its success in signing a contract with Qantas for Oracle software support services, to start in August. The airline is desperate to cut costs in the wake of rising fuel prices, and has already contracted out some functions to IBM Global Services and Telstra....
