Jul 23, 2006 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- A ratings system for Australian aged care facilities has been proposed, but it is not practicable at present. La Trobe University has produced a report for the Australian Government on the best way to match people with available aged care homes. One suggested option was a five-star rating system. However, the report said that long waiting lists mean that people do not have choice. In addition, the aged care industry does not have normal market mechanisms and choice is limited by the shortage of places.
