Qantas returns fire at pilots over Jetstar's capabilities.
Australasian Business Intelligence, July, 2006
Byline: James Hall
Jul 23, 2006 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Plans by Qantas subsidiary Jetstar to begin overseas flights have been criticised by the Australian & International Pilots Association (AIPA). Jetstar is seeking a licence to operate flights that would be 180 minutes from an emergency airport. The AIPA has argued that Jetstar lacks the operational experience to obtain such a licence. Jetstar CEO Alan Joyce in turn has claimed that AIPA is merely seeking to protect the salaries of its members.
