Coopers victory sparkles for legal team.

Jul 20, 2006 (Lawyers Weekly - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Coopers Brewery managed to overcome a takeover attempt by rival Lion Nathan. Allens Arthur Robinson and Piper Alderman helped the South Australian brewery to thwart the takeover. The former law firm ran the Takeover Panel proceedings and prepared the target statement, while the latter was in charge of litigation in the Federal Court of Australia and Supreme Court of South Australia. Allens' lead partner in the undertaking, Ewen Crouch, says that Coopers' constitution, which features pre-emptive rights, made the case "most unusual".
