Clocking off early.

Australasian Business Intelligence, July, 2006

Byline: Damien Woods

Jul 20, 2006 (HR Monthly - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian employers need to deal with the problem of early retirement of employees. The baby boomer generation will begin leaving the workforce over the five years from 2006. Swinburne University of Technology's Centre for Business, Work and Ageing has surveyed the work and retirement intentions of older Australians. It found that there is internal pressure for workers to retire early and most leave the workforce by age 59. Most respondents were willing to work past retirement age in some capacity. Employers need to offer flexible paths for leaving work.
