Pressure on city's possums.

Australasian Business Intelligence, August, 2006

Byline: Peter Trute

Aug 30, 2006 (The Daily Telegraph - ABIX via COMTEX) -- University of New South Wales biology professor, Des Cooper, has completed a study of brushtail possums living in Sydney's northern suburbs. Cooper studied possum distribution in Chatswood West, Pymble, North Epping, Beecroft and Scotland Island, and found that possum families are more clustered than they would be in the wild, because there are too many other possums around them. The purpose of the study was to assess the effectiveness of using contraception to control the possum population. The Department of Environment & Conservation said such programs are not under consideration.
