Aug 29, 2006 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Craig O'Neill has been named the 2006 Australian "Young Scientist of the Year" as part of the "National Science Week" event. The award is sponsored in part by newspaper, "The Australian", and as part of his prize, O'Neill will spend two weeks working in the newsroom of the publication. He usually is a scientist researching diamonds and other geological matters at the GEMOC National Key Centre at Macquarie University in Sydney. Those competing for the award wrote a newspaper-style article about their respective area of research.
