Aug 21, 2006 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Home-based businesses (HBBs) will be the subject of a major new Australian study. The research will consider whether governments should treat HBBs differently to other small businesses. The $A100,000 study will be conducted by business research units from Edith Cowan University and Victoria University in conjunction with business departments of the Western Australian and Victorian governments. It will focus on the transition period between start-up and when the business begins to employ other people. About one million HBBs operate around Australia. In Victoria, they are known to be growing faster than other business types.
