Aug 10, 2006 (BRW - ABIX via COMTEX) -- To date, private equity deals in Australia have been largely associated with big companies. However, a number of private equity firms, including AMP Capital Investors and RMB Ventures, are starting to look at smaller businesses. Greg Smith, of AMP Capital Investors, says one of its strategies is to buy a number of similar firms from "baby boomers" and then joining them together. John Evans of the University of New South Wales says that private companies courting funds from private equity must accept the likelihood that they will probably lose control of their company at some point.
