Retirees keep foot in the workplace.

Aug 07, 2006 (The Age - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Research from Swinburne University suggests that 60 per cent of Australians plan to work after they retire. About 46 per cent of respondents indicated that they want to continue to work in order to remain mentally active, while 54 per cent claimed they want to remain physically active. Up to 31 per cent signalled an interest in contributing to the community and 36 per cent were planning to work after retirement to supplement their retirement savings. Only 22 per cent said they would not work after formally ending their careers.
