The trouble with SOX.

Aug 03, 2006 (INTHEBLACK - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act is a source of controversy among US finance officers. In May 2006, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board and the US Securities & Exchange Commission organised a round-table to discuss the matter. Phil Ameen, vice-president and comptroller of GE, said the cost of his company's compliance with section 404 was $US33 million in 2004. A survey conducted by Financial Executives International suggests that 85 per cent of US senior finance officers believe the costs of Section 404 outweigh the benefits.
