Brain space map gets $3.3m grant.

Aug 01, 2006 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Research Council and National Health & Medical Research Council have allocated $A10m in grants. Two of the recipients are projects at the University of Western Sydney and the University of New South Wales respectively. The remaining third of the money will be used by nine scientists at the University of Queensland and their three foreign-based collaborators for "Thinking Systems: Navigating through real and conceptual spaces". The venture aims to investigate the way the human brain maps physical spaces, and draws on the disciplines of robotics, neuroscience, psychology, mathematics and IT, says project leader Janet Wiles.
