Sep 28, 2006 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian regional airline, Regional Express (Rex), is expanding the size of its fleet. MD Geoff Breust says it plans to lease 25 Saab A340B passenger aircraft. As well as giving Rex the capacity to expand its operations, the deal will enable the company to replace older aircraft. Rex turned its business around in 2005-06, reporting a 141 per cent increase in net profit. It is expecting 10 per cent growth in 2006-07. The new planes will be introduced over three years, beginning in January 2007.
