Sep 28, 2006 (International Tax Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Mike Devereux has been appointed the inaugural director of the Oxford Centre for Business Taxation. Previously with the University of Warwick, where he was professor of economics, Devereux takes up his new job on 1 September 2006. The new centre will be located at Oxford University's Said Business School, and has received funding of Stg5 million ($US9.4 million) over five years from the Hundred Group, which is made up of the finance directors of the UK's biggest listed firms. Devereux says one of the goals of the centre will be to give governments a better appreciation of the impacts of business taxation.
