Nestle to contest latest ACCC decision on supply of imported Nescafe to Aldi.

Australasian Business Intelligence, September, 2006

Sep 25, 2006 (Retail World - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The ongoing disagreement between Nestle and Aldi has been taken to the Australian Competition Tribunal. The food company wants the discount retailer to more clearly distinguish between its locally-made, Nestle-branded coffee and private label products. Management is concerned the brand may suffer if consumers buy a Nestle product with an unfamiliar taste from Aldi. In August 2006, the competition regulator revoked Nestle's application to stop supplying the retailer. The case highlights the threat posed to food companies by parallel imports.
