Sep 19, 2006 (The Age - ABIX via COMTEX) -- There is speculation that the superannuation changes in the May 2006 Budget will alter the attractiveness of defined benefit funds (DBFs). In particular, the new super rules from 1 July 2007 are likely to affect the untaxed defined benefit super schemes of public servants. The Mercer Human Resource Consulting actuary, David Knox, believes that life expectancy needs to be considered when evaluating a lump sum or indexed pension for retirement income purposes.
