Corporate responsibility central to management, says senator.
Australasian Business Intelligence, September, 2006
Sep 19, 2006 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian senator Grant Chapman says corporate responsibility is becoming an important force in innovation. Chapman told the Investment & Financial Services Association that despite this trend, corporate responsibility reporting should not be made compulsory. This is because a mandatory system would contradict one of the underlying principles of corporate responsibility. Corporate responsibility can create new market opportunities, attract investors and differentiate a company from its competitors, Chapman said. He is chairman of a government committee considering corporations and financial services issues.
