Sep 18, 2006 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- In mid-September 2006, four venture capital firms in Australia are in the process of negotiating significant deals. One of the more advanced capital raisings involves Southern Cross Venture Partners, a relatively new operation that hopes to double its first close of $A100 million by the end of 2006. Australian directors at Southern Cross include Bill Bartree, formerly associated with Macquarie Bank, and former Uniseed fund CEO, Gareth Dando. Meanwhile, CM Capital hopes to add to the $A120 million already committed in its new open fund and Innovation Capital wants to raise between $A75 million and $A100 million for its new fund over coming months.
