Australasian Business Intelligence, September, 2006

Sep 14, 2006 (Money Management - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Government has announced the final version of its "Plan to Simplify and Streamline Superannuation". Steve Schubert, director of actuarial and benefits consulting at Russell, says financial planners will greatly benefit from the simplification of minimum and maximum restrictions on allocated pensions. Schubert believes the change in the collection of taxation from individuals who have breached a $A50,000 annual limit on salary-sacrifice contributions is particularly useful. Once the proposed changes are implemented, this tax will be collected by the Australian Taxation Office.
