APN jobs cull has workers on alert.
Australasian Business Intelligence, September, 2006
Byline: Michael Bodey
Sep 13, 2006 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- APN News & Media recently declared to the Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance (MEAA) its plans to shed 19 journalists. The redundancies come shortly after the group's announcement of a $A72 million net profit. Staff and union officials are reportedly concerned about the scope of the redundancies, to take place over a seven-month period, and at the way in which the journalists were selected. The MEAA is thought to be concerned that older workers and union members may have been targeted.
