Although yet to be enacted, they have been reason enough for industry giant Publishing & Broadcasting Limited (PBL) to seek an alliance with private equity firm CVC Capital Partners and spin off the former's TV, web site and print magazine assets. PBL will however retain control of the new entity, which is worth some $A6.5bn and will be highly likely to seek out newspaper titles such as those published by John Fairfax Holdings or West Australian Newspapers Holdings.
